[if you saw me repost this no you didn’t]
Over the last five years, Getting Wordy helped me work out my opinions on what makes good copywriting. It was a place to practice and a reason to pay attention. But the world and I have changed since 2019. At some point, I stopped “sorting out my thoughts” and started down a comparison spiral. Two of the things that have helped me reset are Are.na and The Subtext.
Are.na - “A mindful space where you can work through any project over time.” It’s one of my favorite places on the slow side of the internet and the only way I know how to explore an idea without putting pressure on myself.
The Subtext - A resource “celebrating the best copywriting in branding and beyond.” It’s a community of writers like I’ve never had before.
While I’ll continue lending my hyper-fixated analyses to the wonderful folks at The Subtext (like my most recent book report), I’ve let Getting Wordy go to make room for something new.
Introducing: New Folder
Most writers have some system for saving snippets of writing or conversation that stick out to them. New Folder is mine, packaged up and delivered in an irregular newsletter. No essays or critiques—just a lady sharing the things that help her make copywriting more human and interesting.
I hope what you find here inspires you and, if we’re lucky, somehow gets you paid.
